How Should Video Game News Reporting Evolve?

Today I applied for a job at 1up.com as a News Editor today, basically because it would be an awesome job to have, and I think the 1up staff is probably some of the best there is. So I figured why the hell not? Worst case I don’t hear anything, best case I get a dream job. But my applying for the job isn’t the point of this post.

Mouse Guard Fall 1152 // Lost at Sea

At work Monday I managed to get through two of the comic books I picked up at Comic-Con on Friday, [amazonify]1932386572::text::::Mouse Guard Fall 1152[/amazonify], and [amazonify]1932664165::text::::Lost at Sea[/amazonify].

NY Comic-Con Day 1 Report

This was my first NYCC and I have to say that I was really impressed with it. The entire thing, minus panels, is in one big exhibition hall in the Javits Center. I saw a ton of cool stuff, especially figures (none of which I bought.) It seemed like all the really cool stuff was really expensive, like limited edition figures going for hundreds of dollars.

New York Comic-Con

I’m going to be up at the New York Comic-Con this weekend. I was/am planning to go for Friday, but then I started looking at some of the panels and some events and I may have to also go Saturday and Sunday as well. Saturday Jonathan Coulton is going to be there, as well as Sid Meier. Also the business manager for Penny Arcade has a panel as well, which I’d really like to see. Plus there is the TM Revolution concert that night.

Then Sunday there are some video game panels I’d like to go to, so I might just … Continue Reading

Looking forward to: Mirror’s Edge

Mirror’s Edge is a game being made by DiCE, who are famous for the Battlefield series, but it is nothing like those games. It is basically a first person parkour game in a somewhat dystopian utopian police state future.

“Fuck Microsoft” Update

Figured that I should update everyone one my little “Fuck Microsoft” article from a few weeks back. I got my 360 back earlier this week and it seems to be working fine, but I haven’t actually played any real games on it since I’ve been busy with my desktop. My desktop is been sort of down the last week or so, but now its all fixed and upgraded. [amazonify]B00140S21O::text::::Team Fortress 2[/amazonify]looks awesome on this thing now, running on almost all the highest settings and runs real smooth in multiplayer.

But what’s important is that the 360 got back pretty … Continue Reading

How dare we be optimistic!

I wasn’t ever really planning on talking about politics, but I guess it can’t really be helped sometimes. Although I’m not sure I’d call this politics, but I imagine some people might in order to somehow belittle it.

Today I was watching Al Gore’s speech from the latest TED conference (you can watch it above if … Continue Reading

No Country for Old Men

I just got finished watching [amazonify]B00118T63C::text::::No Country for Old Men[/amazonify] (on Blu-Ray not that it needed to be,) and figured while its still fresh in my head I should write up something about it. The first thing I’ll say is that it is a very unique movie. The only thing I could compare it to is maybe Fargo, minus the humor, and add a lot more violence and badassery.

New Things

Although it is still technically April Fool’s day, this isn’t an April Fool’s thing. I’ve decided that I’m going to expand One Gamer’s Opinion to be not just about video games, but to all the kinds of media I consume, among other things. That is to say I’m going to talk about Anime, Movies, Manga, Comics, Books, TV, Music, Podcasts, Blogs, Websites, Tech, Computers, Politics, etc.
